Class Objectives /Class Outline |
Three types of graduation research is able to be chosen in architectural and building science program. They are graduation thesis, graduation design and combination of graduation thesis and design. Students are assigned to laboratories and choose one theme of architectural professional field. They conduct thesis and/or design by applying the knowledge obtained and learning new knowledge related to the theme throughout a final year. The purpose is to found the basics for an architectural professional and/or engineer. |
Class Schedule |
In general, decision of a laboratory assigned to a student depends on student's hope. However, the maximum and minimum numbers of students belonging to one laboratory is fixed. If the number of applicants is more than a maximum or less than minimum, the number of students is adjusted by the discussion of the teaching staff. Outline of the schedule is the following.
1) The beginning of February: Guidance of the method for assignment and the themes of each laboratory
2) The end of February: Temporary assignment
3) The beginning of April: Formal assignment
4) Although the method for advancing research depends on a laboratory, for example, survey of references, seminar, practice, experiment, measurement, etc., students have to engage in research, while following supervisors' instruction. In case of graduation design, students have to find original problems and to complete their pieces. However, they have to be instructed and suggested regularly by the staff of architectural drawing.
5) The end of October: Students have to explain their progressing conditions of thesis and/or design in mid-term presentation.
6) The deadline of graduation thesis and/or design is the beginning of February. Supervisor judges evaluation requirements of thesis and/or design. The thesis and/or design submitted after the deadline is not accepted. About one week later, final presentation is held. Additionally, in case of combination of thesis and design, the deadline of graduation thesis is the end of December |
Text/Reference Books,etc. |
A supervisor shows research papers, research materials and reference books concerning with reearch theme. Students read closely and understand them to study. A supervisor instructs the methods for completion and presentation of thesis. |
