Criterion referenced Evaluation (Applicable only to targeted subjects for undergraduate students) | Program of Architecture and Building Engineering (Abilities and Skills) ・Understanding on cultivation of expert knowledge and ability for architecture and building engineering. ((2) Comprehensive and advanced knowledge and ability to develop basis for building engineers. Being able to summarize documents of the advanced contents on either a), b) or c) |
Class Objectives /Class Outline |
The objective of this class is to understand the systems of seismic design of buildings, especially, allowable stress design method and ultimate lateral strength design method in reinforced concrete structures and steel structures are focused on in this course. Students should be able to understand seismic design procedure and to conduct structural design of buildings. Followings are objectives in this class. (1) Understand basic concept to design buildings for earthquakes. (2) Understand seismic behavior of buildings using experimental test results and earthquake disaster records. (3) Understand basic concept of seismic design route. (4) Understand stiffness and shear force in buildings under earthquake load. (5) Understand deformation of buildings under earthquake load. (6) Understand ultimate lateral strength of buildings under earthquake load. |
Class Schedule |
lesson1 Lecture of damage of buildings and history of seismic design method in Japan. lesson2 Lecture of modeling of buildings and loads. lesson3 Lecture of summary of D-value Method in frame analysis subject to horizontal loads. lesson4 Lecture of calculation of deformation and stiffnesses in structural design. lesson5 Lecture of flow of ultimate lateral strength design method. lesson6 Lecture of calculation of ultimate lateral strength of buildings. lesson7 Intermediate exam lesson8 Lecture of inelastic flexural strength of reinforced concrete members. lesson9 Lecture of ductile design of reinforced concrete beams and columns. lesson10 Lecture of ductile design of reinforced concrete shear walls. lesson11 Lecture of ductile design of reinforced concrete joints. lesson12 Lecture of inelastic flexural strength of steel members. lesson13 Lecture of width-thickness ratio of steel plate and interval of lateral constraint members. lesson14 Lecture of brace and beam-column connections with bearing capacity. lesson15 Lecture of seismic design of steel building with cold-formed columns and design concept of column bases.
