Class Objectives
/Class Outline
The objective of this class is to understand the systems of seismic design of buildings, especially, allowable stress design method and ultimate lateral strength design method in reinforced concrete structures and steel structures are focused on in this course. Students should be able to understand seismic design procedure and to conduct structural design of buildings. Followings are objectives in this class.
(1) Understand basic concept to design buildings for earthquakes.
(2) Understand seismic behavior of buildings using experimental test results and earthquake disaster records.
(3) Understand basic concept of seismic design route.
(4) Understand stiffness and shear force in buildings  under earthquake load.
(5) Understand deformation of buildings under earthquake load.
(6) Understand ultimate lateral strength of buildings under earthquake load.
