Class Objectives /Class Outline |
This class focuses on beam-column and bar theories which are used for idealization of building structures. The objective of this class is to understand the analysis method of stress and deformation of statically indeterminate structures. |
Class Schedule |
Lesson 1: Introduction Lesson 2~4: Force method and Stiffness method Lesson 5~10: Slope-deflection method Lesson 11: Mid-term test Lesson 12~16: Moment distribution method Lesson 17~19: D value method -- Lesson 20: Mid-term test Lesson 21~24: Principle of virtual work Lesson 25~27:Statically indeterminate truss Lesson 28~29:Plastic analysis and limit theorem Lesson 30: Final test
This class is divided into three parts. An examination is given at the end of every part. |

Suggestions on Preparation and Review |
The instructions will be given in each lecture. |
Requirements |
(1) This class is composed of lecture and practice. (2) Students should study “Architectural Structural Mechanics I” before taking this class. (3) This subject is necessary to learn building structure and useful to understand other subjects related to architectural engineering. |
Grading Method |
No less than 60 points out of 100 for the examinations. The ratios of points to each examination are as follows. First intermediate examination : Second intermediate examination : Final examination = 1:1:1 |
Practical Experience |
|
Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it |
|
Message |
Students should do many exercises in order to understand relationship between the shape of structure, external force, stress diagram and deformation. |
Other |
|
Please fill in the class improvement questionnaire which is carried out on all classes. Instructors will reflect on your feedback and utilize the information for improving their teaching. |
