Class Objectives
/Class Outline
Radiation, once labeled with unknown tags such as α, β, γ, and X, now constitutes the foundation of physics. With multiple astronomical observations, the existence of dark matter is firmly established. Currently, in order to ascertain its true nature, diverse explorations are being conducted worldwide on a multiscale exceeding twenty orders of magnitude. Due to its unknown nature, insights from condensed matter physics are also being mobilized, leading to radical developments in sensor development and measurement techniques based on principles previously unimagined. In essence, the search for dark matter represents a culmination of comprehensive physics efforts. We provide an overview of the rapidly evolving landscape of dark matter exploration on a multiscale. At times, we may invite leading experts to deliver lectures on specific topics.

Message In the physics department curriculum, this course is offered during the fourth year of undergraduate studies. However, due to its introductory nature, students of any year are welcome as long as they have strong interests. Additionally, students who attend solely for the purpose of auditing the course, without necessarily aiming to earn credits, are also welcome.
