Class Objectives /Class Outline |
Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and infrared (IR) spectroscopy, mass spectrometry (MS) are the most important methods for organic chemists to obtain the information of the molecular structures of organic and organometallic compounds. NMR spectroscopy gives the information of a molecule’s carbon-hydrogen frameworks, and IR spectroscopy identifies a molecule’s functional groups. MS spectrometry is an analytical method that measures the mass of ions and molecules. The goal of this couse is to be able to determine the structure of organic compounds based on the spectra obtained by these analytical methods. |
