Class Objectives
/Class Outline Objectives:
Needless to say, the history is not “a learning by heart subject”. The past phenomenon was caused in environment or the condition of the times concerned, and, as for it, there is not plasticity. However, in an abstracted dimension, the phenomenon has a problem to overlap now.
In this class, I aim for you acquiring the consciousness that you find a problem and consider from the historical essence.
Outline:
In the Edo era, a monetary economy and market economies spread in the Japanese Islands. And, with it as a base, economic growth and the industrialization progressed in afterward for the Meiji period. The Japanese economy traced the original development course, while coming under a global influence. In this lecture, I want to think about a characteristic of the Japanese economy development, while investigating the factor.

3.Viewpoint to carry through Japanese economic history

7. I think about tax reform after the Sino-Japanese War.
8. I think about a fight over national budget created by multipolarization of the politics, after Russo-Japanese War

11.How did the party politics deal, in a series of economic crises?
12. Why did the Osachi Hamaguchi Cabinet perform a lifting the gold embargo policy?

15. What are the characteristics of Japanese manufacturing?

I carry out an examination on the last day.

Text/Reference
Books,etc. There is not the textbook. As a reference book, I recommend Japanese History series (Shogakukan, Shueisha, Chuokoron-Sha) for public. In addition, you should read "the introduction seminar Japanese economy" of Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Inc.. Both are comprised in the central library of Hiroshima Univ.

Preparation and
Review I do not explain basic knowledge about the Japanese history some other time. The person who does not learn Japanese history in a high school hopes to read the educational comics "Japanese history" first of all. In addition, it is slightly difficult, but the comics "Japanese history" of Shotaro Ishinomori is good, too.

Requirements nothing

Grading Method I evaluate it by the comments of the every hour(10 points) and a term-end examination (90 points) .
I pay attention to the next points and mark it. One, you think or not about essence, while writing comments and the answer of the examination? Two, you write them or not while associating the essence with a modern problem?

Message The time of this class is a problem, and my way of speaking may provoke your sleep. Though there is not it, as for the cunning of the speech skill to attract a person to me, only the eagerness is not defeated by a person. But I want to make an effort to tell that I can draw your interest as much as possible. I hope that you polish intellectual curiosity without yielding to moisture and sultriness, when my lecture is carried out.
