The course aims to provide an understanding of the structure and basic concepts of family law, and to develop the ability to analyze specific issues through case law and legal theories. 
Class Schedule Session 1. Orientation, What is Family Law?
Session 2. Principles of Family Proceedings and the Family Courts (studying based on divorce procedures)
Session 3. What is Marriage?, Formation of Marriage, Impediments to Marriage
Session 4. Effects of Marriage, Purpose of Divorce Law, Grounds for Divorce
Session 5. Divorce Petition by the Culpabile Spouse, Effects of Divorce
Session 6. Surname and Koseki-system, De Facto Marriage, Protection of Same-Sex Couples
Session 7. Establishment of the Parent-Child Relationship and Legitimacy Presumption System
Session 8. Acknowledgment of Parentage System, Births Based on Artificial Insemination
Session 9. Adoption, Social Care of Children
Session 10. Parental Authority and it's Restrictions, Child Protection from Abuse, Guardianship for Minors

Text Reading: It is required to thoroughly read the texts covering the scope of the lecture.
After the lecture, submit a comprehension survey and deepen your understanding by reading related materials. 
Requirements For the lectures, prepare the designated textbook, the Codes (including the Civil Code table of contents), and a notebook.
It is preferable to have taken subjects related to the Civil Code, such as Civil Code Part. 1. 
Grading Method The grade will be based on a final exam. Those who cannot take the final exam must undergo a makeup examination, for which the proper procedures within the school must be followed.
