In this class, through understanding classical sociological theories of Weber, Durkheim, Simmel, Mead, students will learn about sociological approaches to the problems of modern societies.

Lesson1: Students must understand whole constitution of the lecture.

Lesson2: Students must pay attention to how to catch about rationality and rationalization.

Lesson3: Please be careful about the explanation of the social phenomenon with the purpose - means diagram.

Lesson4: Please wear a viewpoint to apply a rationality concept and a purpose - means diagram, and to catch the modern society critically.

Lesson5: Students must understand the unique viewpoint of society seen in the concept of “collective conscience.”

Lesson6: Please understand that a crime and delinquency are relative concepts.

Lesson7: Please learn a viewpoint that historic recognition is constructed socially.

Lesson8: Please pay your attention what "the form of the socialization" means.

Lesson9: Please pay your attention to the point where various exchanges of our everyday life are explained from the viewpoint of "social exchange".

Lesson10: So-called "urban legend" is explained by a pure sociology of Simmel and a theory of the cognitive dissonance of Festinger.

Lesson11: Students must understand the ways of thinking such as “looking-glass self” and conversation between “I” and “me.”

Lesson12: By the concepts of reference group and relative deprivation, please understand that a personal manner such as the feeling of satisfaction is prescribed by important others.

Lesson13: Please become able to explain one's personal example about the side of the intelligible social life only after you depend on dramaturgy (viewpoint of the dramatic theory).

Lesson14: About the genealogy of sociological ideas, please understand mutual relations.

Lesson15: Please understand the whole class as four flows of the sociological thought.

Grading Method Comprehensive evaluation is based on the following: term-end examination: 70%; quiz: 30%
