Class Objectives /Class Outline |
This course is designed to have the students to reach the required standards explained below.
① Having enough knowledge and skills regarding the contents of the subjects ② Being able to make a teaching plan based on the integrated understanding of "learning" and "development" ③ Being able to conduct a practical lesson based on the knowlede of teaching materials and teaching techniques ④ Being able to evaluate students' development and learning ⑤ Being able to instruct students on the basis of understanding and reliable relations with them ⑥ Having enough knowledge of school management. ⑦ Having basic knowledge on school and education-related matters ⑧ Having qualities and abilities necessary for educators (such as "sense of responsibility", "educational affection", "interpersonal relationship")
These 8 standards are categorised into four sections: "Contents of the subjects(①)", "Teaching methods and techniques (②~④)", "Student counseling and class and school management (⑤~⑦)", "Qualities and abilities as an educator(⑧)".
This course is composed of two main phases; "reflections" and "follow-up" In the reflection phase, students are to reflect their current achievement level referring to each standard based on their “teaching certificate portfolio” (results of their learning in the teaching training course). In the follow-up phase, they work out various activities to reach the required standards: listening to the expertise, doing exercised or practices, making teaching plans, conduct micro/demo teaching, doing debates or discussion. |

Requirements |
Students should have finished Teaching Practice at Junior and Senior High School I or II at Hiroshima University and earned the credits before attending this course or should be expected to earn during the same term as this course. |
Grading Method |
1. Required to reach at least level 2 or higher for all "Hiroshima University 8 standards" and to submit abstruct portfolio for obtaining a credit 2. The grade will be decided based on the total of the result of each standard. Superior: 22 and higher Excellent: 20 and 21 Good : 17~19 Fair: 16 Failed: 15 and lower |
