Class Objectives
/Class Outline
"Students will think about utilization of computers in mathematics education, mainly calculus contents that the students learned in high school and in the university, through practical work using formula manipulation software. The students will deepen understanding of earning contents of school mathematics. The aim of this course is for the students to acquire basic processing skills of their own handouts and other documents that include formulas.

"Lesson1: Course Overview
Students will be provided with an overview of this course so that they can see the clear objectives of this course and raise awareness of issues.
Lesson2: Prime numbers and approximations
Use a formula manipulation system to check the number of prime numbers.
Lesson3: Development and factorization
Use a formula manipulation system to develop and factorize polynomials.
Lesson4: Calculation of fractional expression and evaluation of a formula
Use a formula manipulation system to calculate fractional expression.
Lesson5: Graphics (1)
Practice drawing functional graphs with a formula manipulation system.
Lesson6: Graphics (2)
Practice drawing functional graphs with a formula manipulation system.
Lesson7: High-degree equation
Practice solving high degree equation with a formula manipulation system.

An assignment as a review of the contents covered in the previous lessons.
Lesson8: Document processing (1)
Provide students with an explanation of how to use Tex. Create simple sentences.

Learn to make sentence (itemization) with Tex.

Learn how to type an identity formula and others with Tex.

Practice solving simultaneous equations with a formula manipulation system.

Supplement what we have learned and do some exercises.

The coverage of the final exam will be Lesson1-7 and Lesson 11-14.

Requirements  
Grading Method Students will be evaluated comprehensively based on report assignments, quizzes, contribution in class, attendance, final exam, and others. If students are absent for 1/3 or more of the course, they will not be allowed to take a final exam. No makeups for this exam will be given unless there is an exceptional reason.
