・Having knowledge of psychological traits of children with disabilities as well as basic medical knowledge required in practice. 
Class Objectives
/Class Outline
The objective of this course is for students to acquire the basic knowledge for those who are engaged in education for person with intellectual disability.
This course will provide students with a brief outline of psychological, physiological, and pathological characteristics of intellectually disabled people and an introduction of the recent trend of their social involvement and others matters with videos, and major psychological tests to determine the status will be introduced in the lecture.

lesson5: Psychology of parents

Lesson9: Job assistance for people with intellectual disabilities
Lesson10: Self-determination and participation
Lesson11: Psychological test to grasp the reality (1) Tanaka Binnet Intelligence Test

After Lesson1:
Review your notebook. If you have a question, ask in the following lesson.
After Lesson2-3:
Slightly detailed items will be explained in the lessons. Review to understand those items well.
After Lesson4-6:
Slightly detailed items concerning medical matters will be explained in the lessons. Review the important points to understand well.
After Lesson7-15:
A wide range of items concerning psychology, education, and welfare of intellectual disabilities will be explained with some details.  Review handouts and your lesson notebook. If you have a question, ask in the following lesson.  
Requirements This is a required course that corresponds to Section2 of the Teachers License Act (Teacher Certification for Special Needs School).  
Grading Method Students will be evaluated based on reports and attitude toward class participation.

Message Students are expected to be familiarized with people with intellectual disabilities and be encouraged to participate in volunteer activities and others through this course.
