Class Objectives /Class Outline |
The objective of this course is to examine how science lesson in elementary schools should be from both theoretical and practical aspects by designing a lesson plan of elementary science and giving a trial lesson based on it, and to cultivate capabilities to make a concept, practice, and improve a science lesson. In order to achieve above, students will make a concept of a science lesson and plan it in consideration of researches of material studies related to the contents of elementary science, give a trial lesson based on the lesson plan, and have a discussion over issues and points to be improved. Concept making and planning of a teaching plan will be done in a group depending on the number of students. |

Suggestions on Preparation and Review |
Lesson1: Understand an overview and objectives of this course. Start developing a lesson plan and researching lesson contents for the unit of which you are going to give a trial lesson. Lesson2: Make your lesson plan and research on your lesson contents specific based on what you learned about planning, implementing, and reflecting on a lesson. Lesson3-14: Sort out challenges of the unit of which you gave a trial lesson and deepen your understanding of what was pointed out in the discussion by reading reference books and others. Students who gave a trial lesson will review their lessons and challenge and summarize in a report based on feedback from other students. Those who haven’t given a trial lesson yet should review what was discussed and utilize them for planning and implementation of your lessons. Lesson15: Review what you have learned from the entire course from the aspects of knowledge, understanding, intellectual capabilities & skills, practical capabilities & skills which are required to design and give a science lesson, and identify your challenge for further improvement of your capabilities and skills. |
Requirements |
It is desirable that students have taken Teaching Method of Science for the Elementary School. Elective Course in Teacher Education: Teaching methods of school subject (science) |
