Class Objectives
/Class Outline
In this Class students will join an archeological fieldwork in Taishaku-Valley sites, learn about the method of finding remains and handling archeological finds under directon of trained teachers. 
Class Schedule Class 1; We provides students with concrete understanding the outline of this excavation.
Class 2; Explanation of various archeological materials for understanding the archeological site to be excavated.
Class 3; Making a brochure about research achievement of the site to be excavated, and presentation about it .
Class 4; Planning for excavation program, and discussion about each asgning tasks in the excavation.
Class 5; Excavation (topographical survey planning and field confirmation).
Class 6; Excavation (setting of the survey area and explanation of equipment).
Class 7; Excavation (excavation management of the survey area).

Class 8; Excavation (management of excavated artifacts in the survey area).
Class 9; Excavation (Measurement and collection of excavated artifacts).
Class 10; Excavation (stratification of soil layer sections).
Class 11; Excavation (Confirmation of the formation process of the remains).
Class 12; Excavation (taking photographs and managing the measurement plan).
Class 13; Excavation (confirmation and discussion of the overall remains).
Class 14; Excavation (discussion and overall understanding of the entire survey area)
Class 15; Understanding research achievement from our excavation and Discussion about future researching under the direction of graduate students.

We have a meeting for tommorow’s excavation after field work in a site or lodging house every evening. 
Requirements Students majoring in  archaeology only can be accepted in this class for it’s highly-professional specialty.  You have to take all practice of “Field Practice in Archeology (A, B, C)” in your all semesters. 
Grading Method Practical fieldwork in the site (80%), and report point (20%).

Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it Utilizing my practical experience in excavations at the Kyoto Prefectural Buried Cultural Properties Research Center, I provides guidance on excavations.
