Class Objectives
/Class Outline
The Earth's climate has remained warm and humid for so long due to the stabilizing effect of the carbon cycle. This lecture facilitates understanding of the climate stabilizing effects maintained by the earth, using cases of climate change from the paleoclimate of 500 million years ago to the present. In particular, this lecture aims to deepen understanding of the current state of climate stabilization mechanisms, focusing on the Precambrian Snowball Earth events, the end-Permian mass extinction crisis, and the current global warming caused by human activities.
Class Schedule lesson1 Introduction: climate change and the mass extinction crisis
lesson2 Earth history overview 1: birth of the primitive atmosphere
lesson3 Earth history overview 2: establishment of a warm climate
lesson4 Earth history overview 3: current climate change
lesson5 Overview of climate change history 1: atmospheric structure
lesson6 Overview of climate change history 2: greenhouse gases and climate change
lesson7 Overview of climate change history 3: anthropogenic and natural variability

Message Global warming caused by greenhouse gases has a major impact on nature and human society. However, it is not widely understood that even the current level of global warming is largely mitigated by nature. This lecture is intended to fill this lack of understanding.
Other
Please fill in the class improvement questionnaire which is carried out on all classes.
