Message |
How much do you know about South Korea, North Korea or Koreans in Japan? Do you have any knowledge of them other than those obtained from mass media? Can you imagine the faces of ordinary people of neighboring South Korea or North Korea or Koreans in Japan?
Knowing others is the key to knowledge of the self. Knowing Korea (South Korea, North Korea or Koreans in Japan) is the best way to understanding Japan. If you do not know about Korea, you do not know about Japan.
Get rid of your preconceptions of Korea and meet new Korea as others. This may turn people’s interest from the U.S. to East Asia and this may lead to peace in East Asia. How about if we discuss Korea, Japan and peace in East Asia together?
I hope that you value your feelings above all in participating in this course. Focus on your own words, stories and poems. I hope that you will try to write one poem or story through this course. It does not matter whether you can write it well or not. |
