Class Status within Educational Program (Applicable only to targeted subjects for undergraduate students) | This laboratory work provides fundamental experimental methods and common skills necessary for the comprehension of physical materials science |
---|
Criterion referenced Evaluation (Applicable only to targeted subjects for undergraduate students) | Integrated Arts and Sciences (Abilities and Skills) ・The ability and skills to specify necessary theories and methods for consideration of issues. ・The abilities and skills to summarize one's own research in reports or academic papers, and to deliver presentations at a seminar or research meetings, and to answer questions. |
Class Objectives /Class Outline |
To understand the basic concepts and principles underlying the material science through experiments, lectures and seminars about (1) electronic circuits and (2) the electronic state of semiconductors are conducted in Experimental Methods for Materials Sciences A. Topic (1) electronic circuits Topic (2) the electronic state of semiconductors |
Class Schedule |
lesson1 Introduction of Topic (1) (Kajihara,Sugimoto,Hasegawa) lesson2 Electric circuits:Building electric circuits of transistors (Kajihara, Sugimoto, Hasegawa) lesson3 Electric circuits:Building electric circuits of transistors (Kajihara, Sugimoto, Hasegawa) lesson4 Electric circuits:Building electric circuits of op-amps (Kajihara, Sugimoto, Hasegawa) lesson5 Electric circuits:Building electric circuits of op-amps (Kajihara, Sugimoto, Hasegawa) lesson6 Electric circuits:Digital circuit experiment (Kajihara, Sugimoto, Hasegawa) lesson7 Electric circuits:Application of electronic circuits for physical measurement (Kajihara, Sugimoto, Hasegawa) lesson8 Introduction of Topic (2) (Inui, Kajihara) lesson9 Seminar about vacuum evaporation (Inui, Kajihara) lesson10 Laboratory work: Preparation of vacuum evaporation (Inui, Kajihara) lesson11 Laboratory work: Vacuum evaporation (Inui, Kajihara) lesson12 Laboratory work: Optical absorption measurements (Inui, Kajihara) lesson13 Seminar about the electronic and optical properties of semiconductors (Inui, Kajihara) lesson14 Summary (Inui, Kajihara) lesson15 Summarize Topics (1) and (2) (Kajihara, Sugimoto, Hasegawa, Inui)
Each student may be required to include a report on the experimental methods in a lab report of Laboratory Work in Material Sciences A. |
Text/Reference Books,etc. |
Handouts will be provided for each topics. |

Suggestions on Preparation and Review |
Read the handouts very carefully before each lesson and fully understand the concept of the experiments. Reviewing the basic knowledge of physical measurements and error analysis is also useful. |
Requirements |
This lecture is combined with Laboratory Work in Material Sciences A, and students must register for both classes concurrently. |
Grading Method |
attitude toward the class including active participation for experiments (50%) and a lab report(50%) |
