Class Objectives
/Class Outline
This course is for students to acquire advanced understanding of the major principles and findings of cultural psychology. The primary goal of cultural psychology is to understand (i) how culture can influence (often determine) the very nature of individual experience, including cognition, emotion, and motivation, and (ii) how individuals’ thinking, feeling, and behaviors give rise to social environments in turn. In addition, researchers have recently started to apply these findings to solve social issues in the present multicultural world. The goal of this course is thus to learn how cultures influence our psychology and how cultural psychologists address "cultural issues," such as intercultural communications.

This course enables students to:
1. develop knowledge of historically significant research (i.e., classical studies) in cultural psychology.
2. understand the major methods of cultural psychology
