Class Objectives
/Class Outline
This lecture course is mainly concerned with momentum and sediment transport processes in rivers. It aims at providing students with the ability of predicting the features of flood flows with sediment and associated changes in river morphology based on hydraulics.
Class Schedule Lesson 1: Introduction
Lesson 2 : River flow modeling (1), basic equations for one-dimensional flow
Lesson 3 : River flow modeling (2), numerical modeling of one-dimensional flow

Lesson 4 : River flow modeling (3), derivations of shallow water flow equations

Lesson 5 : River flow modeling (4), derivations of shallow water flow equations

Lesson 6 : River flow modeling (5), flood simulation using shallow water flow equations (Assignment 1)

Lesson 7 : Sediment transport & morphodynamics (1), river morphodynamics

Lesson 8 : Sediment transport & morphodynamics (2), sediment transport dynamics

Lesson 9 : Sediment transport & morphodynamics (3), sediment transport dynamics

Lesson 10 : Sediment transport & morphodynamics (4), one-dimensional morphodynamic model

Lesson 11 : Sediment transport & morphodynamics (5), two-dimensional morphodynamic model (Assignment 2)
