Class Objectives

Feed science and grassland science are essential areas for efficient livestock production.
Students learn about 1) back ground of feed supply and consumption, 2)feed nutrients, 3)feed sources, 4) feed additives and safety, 5) nutrient requirements and feed formulation, 6) grassland function and structure 7) the efficient forage production systems, including grazing 8) environmental issues in grassland ecosystem. 
Class Schedule Lesson 1:  Introduction, What is grassland? Grassland type and distribution
Lesson 2: Classification of grass and forage.
Lesson 3: Utilization of grassland 1 Cropping system for forage production.
Lesson 4: Utilization of grassland 2. Grazing.
Lesson 5: Cultivation and harvest of forage crop.
Lesson 6: Grassland and weed.
Lesson 7: Cultural control of weed in grassland. Grassland diagnosis.
Lesson 8: Energy and nutrient budget in grassland.
Lesson 9: Self-sufficiency ratio of feed. Forage and concentrated feed.
Lesson 10: Chemical composition of feed.
Lesson 11: Classification of feed 1, Feed for energy source.

Grading Method Test at each lesson (30%) + exams on Lesson 10 and Lesson 15 (70%)
More than 60% attendance of total classes is required to have exams.
