Class Objectives
/Class Outline
[Objective] Life science is not only fundamental research of biology but also science which is the foundation of applied technology in medicine, agriculture, engineering, environmental science, and so on. In particular, to understand biotechnology, which is a technology utilizing the function of living organisms, it is important to know its current situation. The goal of this lecture is to make it possible for students to understand cells and genes as a basis of biotechnology, and their relationship with biotechnology on microorganisms, animals and plants, functional materials, environmental conservation, agricultural crops, health foods, medical diagnosis, drug discovery, and so on.
[Outline] This lecture is divided into four categories: 1) the basis of biotechnology, 2) microorganisms, sensors, functional materials, and environment, 3) bioresources, crops and health foods, and 4) medical categories, diagnosis and drug discovery. In the omnibus format, faculty members familiar with these areas will explain the basics of related technologies and the latest topics in an easy-to-understand manner.
