(Abilities and Skills)
・Based on basic knowledge which is already acquired, to obtain the following experimental skills in order to practice research: 1) Basic observation skills and skills to manage experiments. 2) Ability to record observed natural phenomena. 3) Ability to collect and assess data.
Class Objectives
/Class Outline
We expect the students to have their own experience on the diversity and commonality of animal development by observing normal development of deuterostomes and protostomes.  Participant will also analyze gene expression pattern of developmental genes of hemichordates or ascidians by in situ hybridization.
Class Schedule 1. Lecture of comparative developmental biology
2. Observation and sketch of normal development of deuterostomes (sea urchin, ascidian, acorn worms, amohioxus)
3. Observation and sketch of other bilaterians (acoel flatworms, protostomes)
4. Gene expression analysis during development and next generation sequennce analysis
Online presentation:
Each participant presents the results such as analysis and others conducted in the course. There is an integrated discussion with participants from other courses.
