Intensive seminar for a whole day, and another whole day presentation (total two days, all under simultaneous online communications), to lead an original solution for one of the SDGs (sustainable development goals), through brainstorming and idea mining process within a student group (consisted of 4 students)

This course is one of the elective subjects, in "Sustainable Development Courses", Common Graduate Courses that aims to understand the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), set by international agreement, and to acquire the ability to advance science to enable sustainable development and to solve various challenges in society.

Students, willing to be highly specialized human resources (= doctoral course students) in varieties of research fields, will be assembled in a small group (4 persons from different backgrounds) and lead a plausible solution for one of the SDGs. The language used in the class is English only. The students’ groups are expected to find out an effective solution, through processes of “mind-opening”, “brainstorming”, “idea classification” and “action plan making”, all will be done in simultaneous online by using various online tools. One week later of the intensive seminar, students will be gathering online and delivering each group presentation, which should be based on the previous discussion, and the ideas will be evaluated by external intellectuals.

Intensive seminar on July 9th, 9AM until 6PM. Students will be assembled in a small group (4 persons from different backgrounds) in MS-Teams and lead a plausible solution for one of the SDGs, through “mind-opening”, “brainstorming”, “idea classification” and “action plan making”.

July 16. Students will be again gathering in the online platform to deliver each group presentation, which should be based on the previous discussion, and the ideas will be evaluated by external intellectuals.  

No exam, but the score will be given based on the presentation

Suggestions on
Preparation and
English only. No preliminary knowledge is needed. Note that this course is not for learning SDGs itself, but for role playing how your idea or knowledge can be used for SDGs.   
Requirements Must attend all of; (1) Intensive seminar on July 9 (Sat), (2) Own presentation preparation, (3) Joint presentation on July 16 (Sat), all under simultaneous online platforms. Students who are not trying active English discussion should not take the course. Max 40 students by lot
