Class Objectives /Class Outline |
◆Class Objectives 1. To understand the various methods and issues in the study of modern Japanese history. 2. To examine the progress of modern Japan in the context of East Asian and world history. ◆Class Outline This course provides an overview of modern Japanese history from the Meiji Restoration to the defeat in the Asia Pacific War, as well as thematic discussions and video clips. The history of modern Japan is inseparable from war and colonial rule, and even today there is controversy over the perception of history. This lecture will help students understand the basic flow of modern Japanese history and provide an opportunity to think about Japan's future relationship with East Asia and the world. |
