Thermodynamics forms the basis of science through the generality of its main concept and its practical applicability. This branch of physics has developed as macroscopic phenomenology, and has contributed to the creation of a concrete definition of temperature and clarified the efficiency limit of heat engines. Thermodynamics is the basis for understanding the equilibrium states of materials and their physical and chemical properties, along with non-equilibrium transitions. In this course of Thermodynamics II, the basic laws and ideas of thermodynamics are applied in order to give an understanding of the physical and chemical properties of materials with free energy. Lesson 1: Thermodynamic functions (free energy) (1)Lesson 2: Thermodynamic functions (free energy) (2)Lesson 3: The condition of therrmodunamic equilibrium and the therrmodunamic inequalityLesson 4: A system with variable number of particlesLesson 5: Phase equilibria (1)Lesson 6: Phase equilibria (2)Lesson 7: Chemical equilibriaLesson 8 (45min): Summarya short test at the end of each lesson, final examination reference books: Enrico Fermi "Thermodynamics" Dover PublicationsMiyake, Satoru, "Nesturikigaku" 1989 Shokabo Handout https://home.hiroshima-u.ac.jp/atoda/Thermodynamics/all3016.html Prepare for and review the subjects. Your grade will be based on the following: final exam 70% and, as additional points, attitude toward class and assignments. Please fill in the class improvement questionnaire which is carried out on all classes.Instructors will reflect on your feedback and utilize the information for improving their teaching.
