This class aims to provide basic knowledge concerning the causes and present status of environmental issues and their countermeasures. 
Class Schedule Lesson 1: Introduction: History of environmental issues in Japan
Lesson 2: Water pollution
Lesson 3: Waste management
Lesson 4: Climate change
Lesson 5: Energy supply and consumption
Lesson 6: Biodiversity 1
Lesson 7: Biodiversity 2
Lesson 8: Environment and economy

I recommend that participants understand the following key points in each lesson.
Lesson 1: History and causes of  environmental issues in Japan
Lesson 2: Causes, present status, and regulations of water pollution
Lesson 3: Present status and political measures of waste management
Lesson 4: The mechanism, present status, future projections of climate change and measures against it  
Lesson 5: Present status of energy supply and consumption
Lessons 6, 7: Causes of biodiversity loss and measures to protect biodiversity
Lesson 8: The relation of the economy to environmental issues 
Grading Method Short test/Homework 90%, participation 10%
