Class Objectives
/Class Outline
We perform lectures interactive between teachers and students with comprehensive viewpoints by sharing different biological phenomena mainly on reproduction.  Our aim is to nurture talented person who can globally understand information of the diverse organisms through “sex”, a fundamental function of life, and figure out the nature of biological phenomena.

We give a talk on “reproduction” in micro-organisms, animals, and plants from multiple points of view in Molecular, Ecological and Evolutionary Biology.  Four teachers introduce you in omnibus form the mechanisms of conjugation in prokaryotes and their horizontal gene transfer to eukaryotes, self-incompatibility in plants, and sex determination and sexual differentiation of gonads in animals and plants with update knowledges. Then, we ask you a question, “What is sex?” and discuss about the origins of sex.  Our lectures adopt an interactive form using a power point screen and/or printed papers as information resources. Achievement degree of each student to the goal of our education is evaluated by reports and /or paper examination.
