・Based on basic knowledge which is already acquired, to obtain the following experimental skills in order to practice research: 1) Basic observation skills and skills to manage experiments. 2) Ability to record observed natural phenomena. 3) Ability to collect and assess data. 
Class Objectives

We expect the students to have a chance to contact creature directly in nature to understand biodiversity and to create an opportunity to be able to see biology from many sides before studying molecular biology or biochemistry based on model animals and experimental systems.  Participant can understand living organisms in nature with five senses. 
Class Schedule Animal classification and Ecology
   Collecting intertidal organism at sandbar and rocky shore
   Classification of the collected organisms according to higher taxon
   Identification and sketch of the organisms
Plankton sampling by plankton net
   Identification and sketch
Collecting and sketch of sea firefly
Anatomy and sketch of sea urchin or sea squirt

All students are expected to read general books on animal diversity and illustrated books on marine animals prior to the practice.  
Requirements The students with any kind of allergy and/or idiosyncrasy must inform us in advance. 
Grading Method A grading will be given by evaluating practical attitude and report, comprehensively.

Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it  
Message The course will be held at the marine lab located at Mukaishima-cho, Onomichi city for four-day three-night study camp. The course will be limited to 30 participants.  You will be responsible for the cost of your transportation and food.
