In this course, students will learn the basics of curricula used by special needs schools and other schools in a historical and systematical way with an aim for the students to acquire knowledge necessary for designing and implementing a curriculum according to the condition of children’s disabilities and their developmental stage, their characteristics, and the situations of their school and community and to deepen understanding of practical challenges for improving the curriculum.

Requirements This course is open only to students of the Program in Special Needs School Teacher Education, including 2nd year students and above. 
Grading Method Students will be evaluated based on contribution in class, and the level of knowledge and understanding about curriculum design in special needs school. 
Practical Experience Experienced  
Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it Mr. Chikurinji who has worked at a special school, special support class, and board of education will have Lesson1 and 13.
Dr. Ujima who has worked for 12 years at a school for the blind will have Lesson 8and 9.
Dr. Kawai who has experiences of working at public schools and university in the United States as a speech-language pathologist will have lesson 11 and 15.
They introduce practical contents based on their experiences.
