Class Objectives /Class Outline |
Many mechanical materials vary greatly in microstructure and mechanical properties due to heat processes such as casting, sintering and joining. Among them, the formation of defects and changes in microstructure are caused by phenomena such as solidification, phase transformation, crystal grain growth, solid solution, deposition, segregation in a rapid heating and cooling process. Understand how to predict such microstructure changes. |
Class Schedule |
lesson 1 Matsugi's lecture: Basic theory of solidification (nucleation) lesson 2 Matsugi's lecture: Basic theory of solidification (segregation) lesson 3 Matsugi's lecture: Basic kinetics of reactions, Kolmogorov-Johnson-Mehl-Avrami equation and solid transformation
lesson 4 Matsugi's lecture: Thermal analysis by finite difference method (FDM) lesson 5 Matsugi's lecture: Micro-macro modeling for formation of solidified and solid-tranformed structures lesson 6 Matsugi's lecture: Theory for sintering and consolidation mechanisms of metallic powder particles lesson 7 Matsugi's lecture: Manufacturing and process analyses of spark sintering for powders having a low sinterability lesson 8 Choi's lecture: Type and history of composite materials lesson 9 Choi's lecture: Composite material and phenomenon of MMC lesson 10 Choi's lecture: Manufacturing method of each composite material I lesson 11 Choi's lecture: Manufacturing method of each composite material II lesson 12 Choi's lecture: Pressure infiltration method and analysis of microstructures lesson 13 Choi's lecture: Property of composite material lesson 14 Choi's lecture: Application of composite material lesson 15 Choi's lecture: Recycling of composite material
