This unit is concerned with the study of issues and attitudes around the pedagogy of physical education in Japanese schools and the trends of teacher education research in Western.
Moreover, you should do the integration of theory and practice through this unit.
Upon successful completion of this unit, students should be able to:
(1)recognise the trends of PE and teacher education research in Western (the ethical, professional, industrial, legal, emotional, intellectual and physical frames of this area)
(2)develop personal opinion from the perspective and achievement of aim in the subject through discussing at issue in curriculum and methodology of PE.
(3)explain the reason that recognized multidimension and diversity in curriculum and methodology of PE; 1) Autonomy of teaching material, 2) child development and scientific nature of pedagogy of PE.
(4)design the curriculum of PE based-on basically theory in PE curriculum and instrument.

Topics of this unit consists 3 areas in the following tables. First, area is essence and fundamental in pedagogy of physical education.  Second, area is the curriculum and instruction in pedagogy of physical education. Third, area is the academic significance of pedagogy of physical education.  
For children in the future, how to develop, how to design, and how to learn in curriculum and instruction of physical education, and why.

 
Requirements  
Grading Method "Students to be assessed by below four aspects..  
1)  Attendance status and participation in classes  (30 points)
2)  Development of teaching proposals and the contents of teaching. (20 points)
3)  Commenting capabilities at review meetings (10 points)
4)  Portfolios (40 points)

Assignment 1:Autobiography & Educational Philosophy ( Weight :15%)
          Length, 500 words in English, 500 words in Japanese (A4, 2paper)
Assignment 2a:Reflective papers ( Weight :30%)
      Length, 1500 words in Japanese  (A4, 1~2 papers)
Assignment 2b:Short essay( Weight :15%)
       Length, 2000 words in Japanese  (A4, 2~3 papers)
Assignment 3:Seminar group teaching (Weight :20%)
