Offering up several novels written in Japan in the present day, we will consider how these works relate to the society and culture of the times they were written. Students will read these novels to think about various issues facing modern Japanese society, and will learn how to understand the ways that literature relates to society and culture. This curriculum aims to teach students necessary, fundamental knowledge of analysis of novels.
