Lab animals are animals for various types of academic research, safety testing, and so on. The quality of lab animals is important in order to ensure accurate results of experiment-based research.
To accurately judge the results of experiment-based research, human knowledge and understanding regarding lab animals is indispensable.
In this course, we will begin by addressing the biological mechanisms of lab animals, mastering an understanding of their genetic, microbiological, and other control methods, as well as learning about appropriate environments in which to raise them.
We will also learn about animal welfare, aiming for a comprehensive understanding of lab animals.

This class does not cover any particularly difficult content. Consult the works listed, and firmly commit to memory the basic information taught in each class. 
Requirements Did you know that the “Hiroshima University Animal Experimentation, etc., Rules” exist? Please read this collection of rules in advance. 
Grading Method Evaluated based on the score of the end-of-semester examination. However, as per university rules, students whose unexcused absences equal one-third or more of the total number of classes will not be permitted to take the final examination. 
Practical Experience  
Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it  
Message This course will focus primarily on typical lab animals like mice and rats. When taking this class, be sure to pay attention to how these animals’ biological mechanisms, rearing methods, control methods, etc., differ from or resemble those of industrial livestock like cows and pigs.
