Class Objectives

To understand structures and physiological functions of domestic animals.
Students will learn (1) Gross and microscopical structures of animal body, (2) digestive systems, (3) homeostasis of blood components,(4) endocrine functions, (5) immune functions, (6) control of reproduction and milk production, (7) control of egg production.  
Class Schedule 1. Introduction of Animal Functional Anatomy.
2 (Chapter 1). Skelton and muscles
3-4 (Chapter 2. 1-3). Histology of animal tissues (epithelium, connective tissue, muscle bone, muscle, nerve)
5-7 (Chapter 1). Form and functions of digestive organs I. (digestive tract, liver, pancreas)
8-9 (Chapter 3. 1-3). Form and functions of endocrine system (hormonal action, hypothalamus-pituitary system, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal gland, pancreas, gastro-intestinal tract)
10 (Chapter 4. 1-2). Urinary system. (synthesis of urine, blood homeostasis)
11-13 (Chapter 6. 1-3.). Form and functions of immune system
Innate immune system.(cellular and humoral factors, pathogen associated molecular pattern receptors)
Adaptive immune system.(lymphoid tissues and cells, immunoresponse, antibodies)

14 (Chapter 7). Form and functions of mammary gland. (mammary gland, milk synthesis, hormones)
15 (Chapter 8). Mechanism of egg formation in poultry. (reproductive organs, egg formation, hormonal control)

Mini report for Chapter 1-8 (8 times); Final test

This course will be provided by on-line (see Bb9).
Submit mini-report for each chapter (8 reports) through Bb9 as shown on the slide of Introduction.
