・To understand management, expansion, utilization of fishing resources as well as economic activities of the fishing industry.
・To understand relations among morphology, ecology and hydrosphic environment. 
Class Objectives

Understanding of fundamental phycology regarding taxonomy, phylogeny and ecophysiology of macroalgae as well as applied phycology regarding aquaculture of economic seaweeds and conservation of coastal environment. 
Class Schedule Lesson 1 Guidance ~ Odd-numbered lessons (Kato)
-Seaweed beds and barren ground
-Taxonomy and phylogeny of macroalgae
-Photosynthetic pigments and life history
-Aquaculture of economic seaweeds

Lesson 2 ~ Even-numbered lessons (Liao)
-Aquaculture of tropical seaweeds
-Biology of invasive and exotic seaweeds
-Survey of algal utilization and applications


Final examination will be held at Lesson 16.
