This course covers the basic biochemistry of the nutrients including carbohydrates, fats, proteins, nucleic acids, vitamins and minerals. This involves learning about enzyme function, the metabolism of these nutrients and energy metabolism. Students will also learn about oral tissues, bone, cartilage, and calcium metabolism. |
