This course covers morphology, syntax,  graphemics, theories about the origin of language, and sociolinguistics and introduces traditional approaches, cognitive approaches, functional approaches, and generative approaches to English language. Students attending this course are expected to deepen the knowledge of English language structures, develop a flexible and comprehensive view on language, and build up the abilities to analyze English language including EFL learners’ output. Various ELT-related issues are discussed from linguistic perspectives.
