Academic Year School/Graduate School Lecture Code 2019Year School of Engineering K5205012 Specialized Education 伝熱学I デンネツガク　１ Heat Transfer I MATSUMURA YUKIHIKO マツムラ　ユキヒコ Higashi-Hiroshima 2nd-Year,  Second Semester,  3Term (3T) Mon3-6：ENG 220 Lecture Mainly lecture 2 B : Japanese／English 3 : Undergraduate High-Intermediate 25 : Science and Technology 25 : Mechanical Engineering Engineering Category 1, FY2013 students or older. (around 140 students) heat transfer and temperature, conduction of heat, linear and turbulent flow, convection heat transfer Program of Mechanical Systems Engineering（Abilities and Skills）・Acquring basis of mechanical system engineering steadily and developing the applied skill.Program of Material Processing（Abilities and Skills）・Acquiring basis of mechanical system, material creation and processing engineering steadily, and being able to applyProgram of Energy Transform Engineering（Abilities and Skills）・Acquring basis of mechanical system engineering steadily and developing the applied skill. While thermodynamics treats systems at equilibrium where temperature is homogeneous, heat transfer treats systems with non-equilibrated temperature and discusses temperature distribution and its time change or rate of heat transfer.  In this lecture, conduction of heat and convection heat transfer are studied, which are the modes of heat transfer.  1) Understand the framework of heat transfer and learn fundamental knowledge of heat transfer and temperature (B-2)2) Derive fundamental equations from Fourier's Law and learn fundamentals of conduction of heat (B-2)3) Learn boundary layer approximation, which is the basic concept of convection, and deepen the understanding of convective heat transfer (B-2) lesson1lesson2lesson3lesson4lesson5lesson6lesson7lesson8lesson9lesson10lesson11lesson12lesson13lesson14lesson151. Fundamental of Heat transfer [1]: Three modes of heat transfer are explained.2. Steady state heat transfer [2-5]: Derive fundamental equations from Fourier's Law and obtain analytical and numerical solutions for 1 and 2 dimensional systems3. Unsteady state heat transfer [6,7]: Analytical solution is obtained using series and Laplace transform for the system where surface temperature or surface heat flux changes.  Numerical solution is also mentioned.4. Laminar flow heat transfer [9-12]: Based on the boundary layer approximation that is the basic concept of convective heat transfer, equation of continuity, equation of motion, and equation of energy are derived, and strict solution and approximated solution by profile method are calculated for flow along the flat plate and flow inside cylindrical tube.5. Turbulent flow heat transfer [13-15]: Analogy between momentum transfer and heat transfer in turbulent flow is explained, and correlation for heat transfer based on dimensional analysis is discussed.Final exam is conducted. To deepen understanding, homework is given for every class.  Its solution is explained at the beginning of the next class, and the students are to check the solution by themselves, and re-submit it.  Submission is not mandatory, but it is considered when the score of the final exam does not reach the acceptable level. Textbook: Kikuchi and Matsumura, "Dennetsugaku" Kyoritsu Shuppan (2006).  Edition larger or equal to 2 should be purchased.  Its cover color is brighter than the first version, and it had publishing date later than Mar. 15, 2009. Textbook and handouts Study textbook well.  The support web page is as follows.http://home.hiroshima-u.ac.jp/~hpthermo/heat_transfer/ Achievement is evaluated by the written exam.  The evaluation is made by this achievement and students with the score higher than 60 % gets the credit.  The evaluation is made by final exam (80 %) and small exam given in each class (20 %).  When this score does not reach 60 %, submission situation of homework is considered up to 20 %. http://home.hiroshima-u.ac.jp/mec/1rui/Office hour exists.  Visit the laboratory when you have questions.(A)-(E) at the end of each item for the purpose of the lecture above expresses the studying and education target of Category 1.  (See detail for the following URL.)http://home.hiroshima-u.ac.jp/mec/1rui/ Homepage will be used.http://home.hiroshima-u.ac.jp/~hpthermo/heat/ Please fill in the class improvement questionnaire which is carried out on all classes.Instructors will reflect on your feedback and utilize the information for improving their teaching.
