授業の目標・概要等 This course will teach the skills of academic research and academic writing. It will focus more heavily on one or the other in alternate years. You can therefore choose to take the course in the year that meets your more specific needs. You are also welcome to take the course twice to gain a full coverage of both topics, but credit will only be awarded once.

This year you will review the structure of English language academic writing, and learn to write simple academic essays in English, expressing and supporting your own opinions and referencing external material.

You will also learn the difference between an academic essay and a full research paper, and be able to format and support your arguments according to the requirements of each type of essay.
