授業の目標・概要等 |
This course aims to critically discuss the key topics, concerns, and challenges that students are facing with the involvement of emergent technologies such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, DeepL and Google Translate in their research writing. At the end of the course, students are expected to be more mindful and critical in their interaction with technologies for academic purposes, and enhance their AI ethics and academic etiquettes in the digital era. This course will give students opportunities to interact with AI for the revision of key sections in their research writing. This course is a timely response to the emerging involvement of AI in research writing and will guide students to reflect and self-assess their interactions with GenAI. |

成績評価の基準等 |
Preparation, Attitude & Engagement: 10%, Prior Reflection: 25%, Post Reflection: 25%, Writing Outcome: 40%
Prior Reflection (25%): A 1000–1500-word reflection about students’ prior-course, existing experience with technologies involved in their research writing. Students need to answer a list of questions to self-assess their interaction with these technologies in this Prior Reflection. The questions and the submission details will be given in class in Week 1 and 2.
Post Reflection (25%): A 1000–1500-word reflection about students’ in-class experience with technologies involved in their research writing. Students need to answer a list of questions to evaluate the AI as well as their own interactions with the AI in this Post Reflection. The questions and the submission details will be given in class in Lesson 13 and14.
Both the Prior Reflection and the Post Reflection will cover key topics in technology-enhanced writing, for example, the AI ethics, the learning motivation, and the user-AI interactivity.
Writing Outcome (40%): Students need to submit a comparison of their own human writing and the AI-assisted writing of their research. Students need to provide notes in this assignment to explain the reason for their approving or rebutting of the key advice given by the AI.
