*IMPORTANT:
 This course is offered for 1) Undergraduate Students and 2) Graduate Students. Graduate students obtain credits by registering for the graduate level course.  
 This course has a LIMITED CAPACITY, due to fieldtrips (bus will be chartered).  Students might have to draw lots if exceeding number of students wish to register for the course.

授業の目標・概要等 Objectives
By taking this course, students will
 Gain understanding of gender equality issues in Japanese society: education and work place, gender issues in international context, women’s empowerment, women and local society from historical perspectives, and gender related social issues.  
 Learn to critically examine the way Japanese women/men have been represented socially, culturally, and historically, and its reality, through fieldwork in a local industry, local high school, and joint study.
 Gain basic understanding of feminist theories in the context of Japanese society

[Undergraduate Student / Graduate Student]
**Schedule can be changed since it needs to be arranged with local school, local government, and local industry, etc.
     Due to the capacity of the Bus for field trips, only the limited number of students can take this course (if the course is offered face-to-face only.)
 Criteria for the Final paper differs depending on the student’s status.
     Graduate students are required to write a longer paper.  For the details, please refer to the syllabus distributed in the class.

**Fieldwork might be replaced with the lectures by guest instructors from industry, high school, city assembly, etc. according to the Covid-19 situation.
**When face-to-face class cannot be held due to Covid-19, the course will be offered online.
*It can be hybrid style, combining face-to-face and online classes.
