授業の目標・概要等 |
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
(a) demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of the scope, key concepts and fundamental principles of international law; (b) understand how states interact and cooperate each each other; (c) analyze international disputes and formulate arguments in international law towards achieving certain outcomes; (d) find legal principles and doctrines by researching relevant treaties, jurisprudence, commentaries and secondary literature; (e) understand the relationship between international law and international reality; (f) critically reflect on the dynamics of world politics, the present state of the law itself and the legal system within which it exists. |

The instructor will expect students to have covered the prescribed reading by the end of the course. Students are encouraged to read more widely if they get interested in a topic or if they find the material difficult and want to start with a more basic introduction. |

Assessment for this course will be based on class attendance, a written research report, presentation of research in class and an in-class test. Class attendance: 20% Written research report: 30% Presentation of research in class: 20% In-class test: 30% |
