Double Degree Programs

The Double-Degree Programs are leading-edge program in which Hiroshima University students can earn two degrees (one from HU, the other from a partner university abroad) .


Features

  • Study abroad for 1 year (minimum) and earn Master's degrees from both HU and a university abroad. Depending on the curriculum, it's possible to earn both degrees in 2-3 years.
  • Part of the credits gained at HU and the host university can be transferred to each other; the curriculums at both universities are complementary.
  • All courses at universities abroad are taught in English.
  • The program aims to train human resources who can actively work in a global setting.

Benefits

  • Although the program requires comparatively intensivestudying than usualexchange programs, studentswill be able to prove theirglobal perspectivesand skills byholding a degree from auniversity abroad.
  • Enables students to become a part of international networks.
  • Improve English language proficiency, especially in academic skills.
  • Complete a global program on "Global Environmental Sustainability" or "Global Citizenship and Peace".
  • Take your research one step further upon return to HU.

Eligibility

Students who fulfill the following criteria are eligible to apply:

1. Enrolled in one of the following Graduate Schoolsat the time of dispatch: Biosphere Science, Engineering, Science, Integrated Artsand Sciences, or International Developmentand Cooperation *1, *2

2. Demonstrated academic excellence

3. Has sufficient foundations in the field of study to be pursued during his/her study abroad

4. Demonstrated English language skills fluent enough for taking courses and conducting research

5. Other criteria required for entrance at the host university

*1 Both Master's and doctoral students are eligible, but Master's students will be given priority.
*2 Every nationality is welcomed to apply. However, international students currently receiving Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarships will lose their eligibility as a recipient once enrolled in this program. Students who receive other scholarships should also check rules and regulations of such scholarships.
