この講座は、本学学生（関係者）や東広島市民に、集中的に英語運用力を伸ばす機会を提供することが目的です。実際に海外に滞在した時に、有意義な日々を過ごせるように、「ミニ留学」のような機会（3日間の集中講座）を企画しました。具体的には、８月18日（火）から9月9日（水）にかけて「夏期英語集中講座」を4期ほど開講します。下記の講座案内を御覧いただき、参加したい「期」をお選びください。各期ごとに参加を募集し、原則３日間を通しての参加とします。HUSAでの正規留学はもとより、「STARTプログラム」「START+プログラム」「GPLPプログラム」等の留学プログラム参加（希望）者は是非とも応募してください。

　15～20名程度　対象：学生、東広島市一般市民（人数制限有り）

　原則として各期の3日間を通しての参加可能な方

テーマ
第一期：Aug 18-Aug 20
世界遺産 "World Heritage Sites"
・世界文化遺産を通して国内外の「歴史」「文化」「自然」について学ぶ
例）ギザピラミッド(エジプト)、サグラダファミリア(スペイン)、タージマハル(インド)、白川郷、富士山、原爆ドームなど
Learn about "history," "culture," and "nature" around the world, visiting World Heritage sites.
There are now 972 cultural, 235 natural and 41 mixed sites in the world, which are officially recognized as UNESCO World Heritage:
For example, Great Pyramid of Giza (Egypt), Sagrada Familia (Spain), Taj Mahal (India), Shirakawago, Mt. Fuji, A-bomb Dome, and so on.

第二期：Aug 25-Aug 27
多角的考察 "Different Perspectives"
・物事や事物を多角的に考察することを通してそれらの利点や問題点を考える
例）都市／郊外での居住、店舗／ネットでの購買、生徒や学生のアルバイトの是非
外国／国内旅行、公共交通機関利用、ペットを飼うこと、課外活動、リサイクル、電子書籍の利点と問題点など
Think about merits and demerits of things and topics considering from different perspectives
For example, living in cities or suburbs, shopping at a store or online, merits or demerits of doing a part time job, overseas or domestic travel, using public transportation, having a pet, volunteer activities, recycling, merits or demerits of e-books, etc.

第三期：Aug 31-Sep 2
異文化コミュニケーション "Cross-cultural communication"
・異文化間コミュニケーションを通して、他者への敬意や多様な価値観を許容する態度を養う。海外留学生が日本で感じるカルチャーショック、本学からの留学生が感じたカルチャーショックを３つのレベルから考えてみる
３つのレベル： 「法律(laws)」「習慣(customs)」「マナー(manners, etiquette)」
例）時間(電車の時間が正確)、生活習慣(靴を脱ぐ、風呂など)、食文化(レストランでの水の提供、チップ、食事の作法など)、法律(アルコールの販売、こどもの一人での外出禁止、留守番禁止など)
Develop positive attitudes of respecting others and accepting diverse values through cross-cultural communication
Think about culture shock experienced by international students from three viewpoints such as "laws" "customs" "manners and etiquette":
For example, punctual Japanese trains, the custom of taking off shoes, taking a bath/soaking in a bath, table manners around the world e.g., giving a tip, using the right hand to eat food, strict rules for alcohol sales, young children being not allowed to go out alone or stay at home alone.

第四期：Sep 7-Sep 9
広島(ひろしま、ヒロシマ) "Understanding Hiroshima and Hiroshima University"
・広島と広島大学について理解を深め、出会う人々や社会に発信できるようになることを目指す
Aim to be able to share information about Hiroshima and Hiroshima University while deepening your understanding of them
